Hara Krishna everyone! On Saturday Taron and I met Vanessa near Logan and we rode together down to Spanish Forks Utah and met Tevan and Lanae at the Hindu temple for the Holi Festival, the Festival of Colors!

You know the expression, "March in like a Lion and out like a Lamb." Well its the end of March and its windy and snowing pretty good outside! I don't think any lamb is gonna make it to Rexburg this year, that Lion is just going to keep marching around!

San Fransisco!

In order to graduate art students are required to take a travel class. Basically its a class meant just to travel somewhere to broaden our horizons and so we can understand the business world outside of school. I wanted to go on a Illustration trip to either L.A. or New York because that those are the biggest places for Illustrators. I was told there was going to be a New York trip this winter a few semesters back so I was planning on going on that and touring all the publishing companies and learning about the industry. But when I went to sign up for the class it wasn't there. So I ended up going on a fine arts trip to San Fransisco! We visited museums and ate a lot of fun food. It was so much fun but didn't really benefit me the way an Illustration trip would. Here are a few pictures I took. I didn't take too many with other people because when your in a group picture the person taking the picture is already loaded down with everyone's cameras and I didn't want to add mine too. Plus I broke my camera halfway through the trip. We are going to share photos later and when I get those pictures then I'll post them too!

We ate breakfast several times at a cute little french bakery called La Boulange. They had some really yummy pastries and quiches.

I had a really great time in San Fransisco! Out of all the cities I've visited, San Fransisco was definitely my favorite, such an interesting city! I love all the diversity this city held from the diversity in architecture to the diversity in its people and the different cultures there.

As most of you know I will be graduating this April. I'll have a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Illustration and a cluster in Graphic Design and Culinary Arts. I have no current plans for a job as an Illustrator quite yet (that's another blog I should write about all my feelings as my education as an artist) but I got a job as a full time receptionist at the office here in Rexburg for Salt Lake Express.

I'm not particularly excited about this job but with jobs so hard to find in Rexburg I am very grateful that I was able to line up a full time job to pay the bills when I graduate while Taron goes to School. I was really nervous about finding a job that would pay enough for me to pay for rent. I was actually expecting to have to find two part time jobs since readily available full time jobs are almost non-existant here. This job will also have stability unlike a lot of jobs around here as well. If you do a good job they want you to stick around for years and years and years if they can help it since it takes so much effort and money to train and get employees in the groove of things with a good working relationship with the other receptionist and the bus drivers. I also hear they give good raises if you work hard to try and persuade you to stay around. So I know that as long as I work hard I will have a full time job until Taron graduates and a job that will not go out of business. So I guess what I've been trying to say is Boring job=stability and rent until Taron graduates. Oh and I also get done at three every day so that gives me plenty of time to keep working on my art and try to build up a good portfolio and maybe even get some odd jobs here and there.

So that's what I'll be doing for the next couple of years. Taron will be quitting his current full time job at Prosper and will be starting school back up this spring semester in April and working part time at the ropes course here on campus. I'm excited for him to get out of the office and start working outside at the ropes course where he loves to be. Taron is planning on switching to the fast track program so he can keep going to school while I work and hopefully graduate in 3 or 4 semesters plus an internship. After that its all up in the air, we will go where the jobs take us.

TGIF!

I all the sudden have soooo much to do and no time to do it! But...today is Friday and all I want to do is play with Taron! What a dilemma!

I was sitting next to this girl today in class and she was reading her book and listening to her i-pod at the same time! I texted Taron saying that she was crazy and he replied, "Yeah, i think her brain might explode. So put some distance between you so you don't get brain goo on you." He later texted me "I hear brain goo stains."

Haha that made me laugh and want to be at work and school even less today and just spend the day having fun with that goof I call my husband!

A little bit of Sunshine.

All I can think about lately is how beautiful life is! Rexburg in general this winter hasn't been its normal below zero degree weather but instead it has been in the twenty and thirties most of the winter. This has given me the opportunity to actually appreciate the snow. I cut across this field every morning when I walk to school and I have beaten a track through the snow. One day while walking through this field my path was covered by fresh snow and right in the middle of my trudging I was suddenly struck with how absolutely beautiful this field of fresh snow was. I can't really explain how I felt but we just never know what random moments will impact us.

For lack of a better term I think I'm like a happiness leech. I've notice anything bright and happy and precious I am drawn too, and I cling to it. I love sunshine, daisies, and pastel colors. I recently bought a yellow gerber daisy plant and every morning I wake up or everytime I come home I can't help it but go say hello to my happy yellow daisies. They sit on our table because that is the only place they can feel the sunshine through our window. All the buds have opened up and each one is stretched toward the window so it can soak up as much sunshine as possible. I can't help but feel like this plant and I have something in common, both of our bodies just yearn for the same things and everytime I look at them they fill my heart with a little bit of their sunshine. There are so many things, moments, family and friends that each can fill our hearts with a little bit of sunshine.

Happy Birthday Taron!

Taron's birthday was Friday and we had all kinds of fun things planned. Unfortunately we have been sick this past week and all weekend. Some sort of flu. So his birthday has been put on hold for now but we will celebrate as soon as we feel better. I managed to get some pathetic streamers up while Taron was in the shower Friday morning. Here are a few pictures of Taron opening his presents.

Our First Married Christmas!

I had a very different Christmas this year! The first major, yet best difference of all was that I am married! The second huge difference was that this was my first Christmas away from home. To start off our Christmas Taron and I decided to have our own little Christmas together before we traveled to Southern California to open up the gifts from my family. He had it the day before we left which just so happened to be on our four monthaversary! We watched A Christmas Story on "Christmas Eve." And on Christmas morning I woke up early but waited patiently for Taron because Sunday is his only day to sleep in. I think he could feel my restlessness because he finally rolled over and told me "Will you get out of bed already?" This was my cue to run to our living room and plant myself right in front of our tree and presents! Taron got to the living room first so he could plug in the tree for me before I came in (my parents always had the tree plugged in before we got into the living room which makes Christmas morning much more magical!)

After presents we made a very fancy Christmas morning breakfast of pancakes, bacon and little smokies! So Yummy! I've never had so much bacon and little smokies to myself before! I don't have to share as much when there are only two of us! We ended up leaving for Utah that night but not before we watched one of our new movies from Christmas.

Driving to Utah was uneventful. But the rest of the drive the next day was not so fortunate. To cut a long story short (because my blogs are always too long) we got in a three or four hour traffic jam and right when traffic finally started to pick back up we rear-ended a girl who rear ended someone else directly in front of us. We ended up getting towed to Barstow then Taron's brother's Thane and Tevan rescued us and drove us the rest of the way.

Christmas at Taron's house was wonderful! I was sad that to be away from home but I was happy to have so much time to spend with my new family and get to know them. I was so lazy it was wonderful! After such a crazy semester it was nice to sleep in, sit around and talk to everyone and play games. Christmas morning at six Taron and I heard mom and Tevan out in the living room. Taron poked me and I jumped out of bed ready to join them for Christmas! But instead of groggy pajamas sitting around the Christmas tree they were fully dressed and ready to head out the door. "We're having a baby!" Christmas morning was postponed till later that afternoon so Torri and Scott's baby Heath R. Ralston could be welcomed into the world! Heath is so tiny and adorable and I enjoyed every second I got to hold him! I wish I would have taken pictures of him...but I didn't. Torri you should post pics of him on your blog. =)
